Nigeria Claims First Olympic Medal Of Rio 2016
Nigeria has claimed her first and possibly sole medal at the ongoing Rio 2016 Olympic games. The Nigerian contingent left it late to get on the medal board and have finally won a bronze medal in the soccer competition. Having lost to Germany in the semi-final, Nigeria’s dream team VI faced Honduras in the third-place match knowing that a win would ensure a bronze medal for the team. The Olympic team captain, John Obi Mikel was in sensational form as he provided the three assists which enabled Nigeria to race to an early 3-0 lead. Honduras tried to claw their way back, cutting down the lead after they scored two goals but Nigeria held tight and managed to seal the victory. Congratulations!

Singer Beyonce and actor George Clooney will headline a telethon to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Harvey, which has displaced more than 1 million people in Texas, organizers said on Tuesday. “Hand in Hand,” a Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief, will air live on September 12 from Los Angeles, New York and Nashville on broadcast networks ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC as well as cable music channel CMT and digital platforms Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The broadcast, which will air live on the U.S. East Coast at 8 p.m. EDT (midnight GMT) and replay on the West Coast at 8 p.m. PST, will include musical performances, taped messages. It will also include live appearances from a host of celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, actors Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon and Julia Roberts, and singers Barbra Streisand, Blake Shelton and George Strait.
