Nigeria Claims First Olympic Medal Of Rio 2016
Nigeria has claimed her first and possibly sole medal at the ongoing Rio 2016 Olympic games. The Nigerian contingent left it late to get on the medal board and have finally won a bronze medal in the soccer competition.
Having lost to Germany in the semi-final, Nigeria’s dream team VI faced Honduras in the third-place match knowing that a win would ensure a bronze medal for the team.
The Olympic team captain, John Obi Mikel was in sensational form as he provided the three assists which enabled Nigeria to race to an early 3-0 lead.
Honduras tried to claw their way back, cutting down the lead after they scored two goals but Nigeria held tight and managed to seal the victory.
